What ceramic coating does
- Adds gloss and depth to paint that has been properly prepared
- Makes washing easier because dirt and grime bond less to the surface
- Helps protect the clear coat from UV exposure and environmental contamination
- Reduces how often the vehicle needs polishing to look its best
What it does not do
- Does not stop rock chips or heavy impacts. Paint Protection Film (PPF) is the physical barrier for that
- Does not make paint scratch proof
- Does not replace good washing technique. It works alongside it
Built for Edmonton conditions
This city is hard on paint. Months of road film and slush, sand and gravel, freeze-thaw cycles and strong summer sun all take a toll. A properly installed ceramic coating gives Edmonton drivers a finish that stays cleaner, washes faster and shrugs off the contamination a northern winter leaves behind.
Why the preparation matters more than the product
A coating locks in the condition of the paint underneath it. Swirls, water spots and old polish residue that are not dealt with first will still be there, sealed under a glossy layer. This is where our background matters: Kay is a Red Seal auto body technician, so paint condition, clear coat and correction are assessed the way a body shop assesses them, not the way a quick-detail menu does.
How we prepare and install
- 01Inspection. We look over the paint, its history and its condition with you, and talk through what you actually want
- 02Decontamination. Safe washing, iron and tar removal, and mechanical decontamination so the surface is truly clean
- 03Correction where needed. Machine polishing to remove correctable swirls and light defects before anything is sealed in
- 04Application. The coating is applied panel by panel under controlled conditions by our team, with Kay overseeing the work
- 05Cure and final inspection. Proper cure time, then an inspection under proper light before the vehicle is handed back
- 06Aftercare. You get clear guidance on washing and care so the protection does its job for years
Ceramic coating compared
| What it is | Where it fits | |
|---|---|---|
| Wax | A sacrificial layer that adds warmth to the finish | Short-lived, melts off with heat and washes away quickly |
| Paint sealant | A synthetic version of wax protection | Lasts longer than wax but still needs frequent reapplication |
| Ceramic coating | A cured protection layer bonded to the paint | Long-term gloss, easier cleaning and defence against contamination |
| Paint Protection Film (PPF) | A physical film barrier over the paint | The only option here that absorbs rock chips and road debris |
