Paint Correction in Edmonton

Paint correction is machine polishing done properly: removing correctable swirls, light scratches, oxidation and water spot etching from your clear coat instead of hiding them with filler wax. It is the difference between paint that photographs well for an afternoon and paint that looks right in person, in daylight, for years.

It is also where an auto body background matters most. Knowing how much clear coat you are working with, and when a defect needs bodywork instead of polishing, is the line between restoration and damage.

Tell us about your vehicle. Kay will review the details and recommend the right next step.

What paint correction does

  • Removes correctable swirl marks, light scratches and oxidation
  • Improves paint clarity, gloss and depth
  • Prepares paint properly for ceramic coating or Paint Protection Film (PPF)
  • Restores a finish that hand polishing and filler products cannot

What it does not do

  • Does not fix deep scratches that go through the clear coat. That needs bodywork, and we will tell you honestly
  • Does not repair dents or collision damage
  • Does not last forever on its own. Correction is best finished with protection

Judged honestly before anything touches the paint

Correction only makes sense when the clear coat can spare it. Because Kay is a Red Seal auto body technician, the assessment you get is a body-shop assessment: what can safely be polished out, what should be left alone, and what actually needs repair. If your paint does not need correction, we will say so.

The process

  1. 01Inspection under proper light to map the defects and measure what is safe to correct
  2. 02Thorough wash and decontamination, including bonded contamination removal
  3. 03Machine polishing in the stages the paint needs, panel by panel
  4. 04Panel wipe so corrected paint is truly clean before protection goes on
  5. 05Finished with ceramic coating, film or both, if you want the result sealed in

Common before-and-afters

  1. 01Automatic car wash swirls on a daily driver
  2. 02Dealer-prep haze on a new vehicle before it is coated
  3. 03Oxidation and fading on older paint that still has healthy clear coat
  4. 04Water spot etching after a summer of sprinklers
